Being that I'm a resident of the East Region, attend the East Region Tournament every year, and the majority of you guys are from the East Region as well. We're going to break down the schedule before a single game is played anywhere in the United States. First, without further ado, is the 2014 East Region Tournament schedule featuring the Mid-Atlantic Tournament and the New England Tournament.

Who misses who? Each tournament features six teams with a four-game round robin. That means you don't play one team. It's luck of the draw each year. Here's the 2014 misses.

Mid-Atlantic Analysis
New York is the only team that is forced to play three games in three days, but the Empire State champions will get two days off before a potential semifinal berth. That's certainly nice. Maryland gets a rough schedule by missing Washington, D.C. but District of Columbia could have one of its strongest teams this year if the pitching comes around. Like New York, if Maryland qualifies for the semifinals they will get two days off after their last game.
New England Analysis
Massachusetts and Rhode Island are getting the shortest end of the stick possible. Not only does Massachusetts and Rhode Island have three games in a row during pool play, but it's the final three days of pool play. Then, the potential semifinal round the next day. That's an insane four games in four days. Hope they have some deep pitching. The reason for this wacky schedule? Television. NESN wants Massachusetts on TV twice. NESN pointlessly televises the worst possible days of Pool Play action when everyone is saving pitching. I'll never understand that. The difference in the schedules between the two though? Massachusetts misses Connecticut, perennially one of the powers. That certainly helps. Rhode Island misses Maine, traditionally one of the weaker squads.
Do you see anything differently with the schedules? Do you have predictions for state championship quality teams? Let me know on Facebook or Twitter. District tournaments start in just over a week!
